The policy document foor good spatial and environment quality will provide a foundation for the elaboration of quality policy under the new Planning and Environment Act.

José van Campen was asked by MOOI Noord-Holland to participate in drawing up an policy doocument for good spatial and environment quality for the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. The Haarlemmermeer is a unique polder that was drained completely by steam around 1852. Farmers from all over the country settled as pioneers in the polder. In 2019 the municipality Haarlemmermeer merged with Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude. This brings together two landscape types: the rational polder grid of the Haarlemmermeer and the more organically grown landscape of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude with its own recognizable structure.

The policy document foor good spatial and environment quality will provide a foundation for the further elaboration of quality policy, based on the spatial vision and linked to the new environment plan. Both the content and the processes of the quality policy are discussed. For the main part this is existing policy which under the Planning and Environment Act must be given meaning in a new coherent structure.
